EVIL

What is evil? How can we describe something that is not tangible? It is hard to come up with a definition of this word because there are so many different viewpoints that try to interpret what it really is. There are a lot of questions that we can ask that help us get a better grasp on this abstract noun. Evil is not like Communism or Catholicism, we can not draw a picture of evil. I know that my idea of evil is usually brought on by a sin. I feel guilt when I do evil. Evil is very real to me, like the black in black and white. I think that evil is the opposite of good and it has to be done by a person. Some people can do evil without knowing it, I am sure that Hitler saw nothing wrong with what he did. I think that evil is hard to define, but it is necessary in the world.

I think that for someone to realize they are doing evil they have to be mentally stable and have a strong conscience, evil is probably doing something that has a negative on someone in the world and you know that when you do the evil action that this will be the outcome.

(P.S. You must really like Core 9 to be blogging about it :))

I think the definition of evil depends on the individual. What you think is evil might be the opposite of what I believe is evil

I agree with geegee. Evil is a slippery slope when it comes to definitions. It depends on morals, religious beliefs, the individual, etc. The only thing I say about it is that it exists, in many forms, throughout the world.

Hmmm. Are you girls saying that evil is subjective? Are there no absolutes?

It's hard to explain....I think that evil is what we make it. For instance, most people shoplifting is evil, however there are some that believe it is simply a way to get by. I guess my question is: couldn't the classification of evil be in the opinion of the majority?
